FAQs

What is the cost of annual membership?
Our annual subscription fee for the 2016-17 season is £340 when paying in five instalments by direct debit, or £360 for a direct bank transfer. Students and unemployed members pay a reduced fee of £170.

Where do we play?
We play at Paddington Recreation Ground, London, W9 1PD. The closest underground station is Maida Vale or Kilburn Park. Buses 98, 16, 6 and 332.

The club has the use of two artificial pitches at Paddington Rec which are side-by-side. The water-based pitch was laid in 2009 in collaboration with Westminster Council following a huge fundraising effort on the part of the club. Our other pitch is known affectionately as the ‘Tiger turf’ a 3G rubber-crumb pitch. Due to the large number of home games to be accommodated each Saturday, teams play the occasional game on an overflow pitch within London.

Where is the clubhouse?
Our clubhouse is Paddington Sports Club (PSC) which is situated on the south side of Paddington Recreation Ground. PSC is a comfortable place to relax after matches with a delicious Thai kitchen and fully stocked bar. They show Sky Sports on two TVs throughout the day and have outdoor seating on the terrace all year round. The entrance is hidden from the main road but you will find it next to Bon Appetit Delicatessen on Castellain Road, Maida Vale, London, W9 1HQ.

When does league hockey start?
League games for all teams tend to start by the middle of September. League games are generally on Saturdays, with 90 min slots starting at 10.30am, 12.00pm, 1.30pm and 3.00pm. Match fees are £10 per game (£5 for students and unemployed) – these are collected on the day by the captain.

How does selection for teams work?
New joiners will be invited to play for a team that our team captains feel is the appropriate level. This will then be continually monitored along with existing members of the club. Selection meetings are held regularly to discuss the movement of players across the teams depending on commitment, performance and contribution towards the club.
