HWHC New Joiners Drinks – Saturday 30th September

HWHC New Joiners Drinks

Compulsory event for any new joiners and all grizzled old veterans.

The upstairs of the Warrington Hotel will be transformed, at minimal cost, into the Hampstead and Westminster Hockey Club frat/sorority house. There will be Beer Pong, there will be competitions, there will be games, and there will be prizes.  There will also be an after party for those that like to dance the night away, venue tbc.

Come along and get involved!

HWHC Season Kick Off Party – Saturday 23rd September

Coming off the back of a record breaking (possibly, I have no idea*) season the HWHC M1s have their first home game of the season, with the Zak Hond doing Ball Patrol as an added treat. To celebrate their inevitable victory and ascension to the top of the league we have planned a party.

The plan is to encourage as many teams as possible to watch the hockey and build some of that legendary awkwardly polite HWHC Cage atmosphere. Post-match there will be food and drinks up the road at the Queens Arms , going on to an early after party at Bokor (formally the Betsy Smith) where we have a private area booked for the club for 9pm.

Fancy dress as your favourite member of the M1s is encouraged.

See you there!

"Shazacca" (Macca & Shaz)

*Editor's note - yes, it was a record-breaking year. Well done Rochey, Kwan et al.

HWHC Launch Slate App for Match Fees

A new way to pay your match fees!

This season, we will be using the Slate app (https://slateapp.co.uk/) which offers the Club the ability to create a direct debit payment request if you don’t pay by cash. You then authorise this request using the free app and your match fees are taken from your account automatically.

In the coming weeks you will receive an email invite from Slate, inviting you to download and register with Slate. It takes two minutes to do so and would appreciate you getting this done by the first game if possible. If you have any problems with getting set up on Slate, please email help@Slateapp.co.uk for assistance.

Can I not just pay cash?

Whether you choose to use the app is entirely up to you, if you prefer to pay cash you can still do so. But we’re hoping most of you will recognise the convenience of paying via the Slate app and not having to drive past the cash point on the way to the game.

Is it secure / does the club get my bank details?

Slate partners with Gocardless, which is a known electronic payment provider similar to Paypal. The systems are secure and encrypted to international standards. All payment is dealt with by Gocardless, the Club and Slate do not access your bank account.

Can the club take money without my permission?

No, the system works by sending you a request to authorise the payment, which you do via the free app on your phone. If the request isn’t authorised then no payment is made.

Is this going to cost me anything?

No, there is a transaction fee, but the club will be absorbing this and not passing it on to members.

It all sounds very complicated and I’m really not very good with technology!

The system is actually pretty simple, however we appreciate not everyone is as comfortable with technology as others. If you are struggling to get set up just email help@slateapp.co.uk and they will help you.

Will match sheets go away entirely?

No, we still need to know who is playing games and scoring goals so we can celebrate at the end of the season. Just the match fee collection part is changing which should match sheets a lot easier.
