HWHC Dream Team 2016/17 Fantasy Hockey

Now you can enter The HWHC Dream Team, fantasy hockey league. Pick your XI now!

After an extended hiatus, it's back, but would you pick yourself?

We are delighted to announce the return of HWHC's Dream Team Fantasy Hockey competition. Whether you want to play to win the CASH prize (amount will be sizeable!),  to give your mates grief about their own shocking scores, or to desperately work out who that person is that you fancy before including them in your team to try and flirt with them, then this is the competition for you.  It's a lot of fun!

The league will work in exactly the same way as last year - for those new to it, it's dead simple.  You can select players from throughout the club (max 2 per team) who you think will score you the most points on the weekend. Points are awarded for appearances, goals, clean sheets, umpiring other teams etc with penalties in place for those that pick up cards with their back chat to umpires or have a penchant for the weekly Dick of the Day award - A full list of how to score points (and have points deducted!) can be found here. Basically start with Neil Hamilton and work it out from there. You don't need to be an expert either, you may feel that just picking a "stupid name XI" a "hot men XI" or even a "Dutch XI" (I think we have enough?) is enough to enjoy the fun.

Players are valued using a series of complex algorithms and random number generators - depending on the player and their team’s performance over recent seasons. And its up to you to select your team within the allocated budget. But if your diamond in the rough isn’t performing as you’d have expected then of course we have a number of transfers available to use throughout the season, however and whenever you want.

And if the opportunity to prove the merits of an HWHC superstar wasn’t enough there will be prizes on offer. CASH prizes!
Entry is £15 with all profit going towards the club, so get involved and test yourselves against the rest. Please note that it is free to register and enter a team on the website, but expect to be chased for your £15 by and angry goal keeper if you haven't paid soon!

Please note - the first week of points scoring is next Saturday, 15th October, so you have one weekend to research.  Get your entries in and team picked by Friday night!

Sign up for HWHC’s Premier Fantasy Football League!

Ahead of the Premier League kick off this Saturday 13th August , show your commitment to Friday afternoon work procrastination by signing up to the HWHC fundraiser league.

Entry costs £20 and half will be donated to HWHC.

Sign up or login at https://fantasy.premierleague.com.

To join our private league click on 'Leagues' with the code 1494271-367207

PRIZES! Half of the jackpot will be awarded to the worthy champion with the most points. But, if words like 'champion' sound too much like hard work then you're in luck. The other half of the jackpot will go to the top placed team amongst 'casual' players (teams with under 10 transfers). You can set up a team, make a few knee-jerk transfers in the first month and then never look at it again and still walk away with the same prize as the person who spent hours deliberating the order of substitutes and support our hockey club all at the same time. What's not to like?

Join the league now and please email us your name so we can collect the entry fees over the coming weeks.

Men's 1s Calendar 2015

Men’s 1s strip naked for charity calendar

The Men's 1s have stripped down and bared (nearly) everything to produce a Naked Calendar for 2015.

If you are struggling for Christmas presents then this is the perfect stocking filler for the family, Secret Santa gift for the office or just a great calender to hang on your wall!

As well as supporting the club's pitch fund, a significant proportion of the profits will go to the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Foundation helping to fund research into blood cancer. As many people will know, Martin Scanlon (hockey playing brother of Ian) has been battling with this rare disease for 2 years and so we wanted to support him in his on going fight.

The Calendar is available from Paddington Sports Club for £10, any member of the 1st XI squad or if you would prefer to have it delivered straight to your door you can also order it online from our eBay page.

Huge thanks to Helen Cathcart who endured a morning of 'sight seeing' and then professionally produced the calendar. And also to Sam Neal at Geoff Neal Litho who printed it at a large discount to raise even more money. Thank you to both for all their hard work and effort.

We hope you like it - if it's a success there may well be a 2016 version as well...

HWHC Dream Team 2014/15 Fantasy Hockey

Now you can enter The HWHC Dream Team, fantasy hockey league. Pick your XI now!

After the success of last season's league, we're bringing it back!

Firstly, we have to congratulate the top 3 Managers - with an amazing close finish that hinged on the final results!

1 Duncan Parnis: Hampstead#8 - 1259
2 Dom Richardson: Absinthe Minded XI - 1256
3 Jamie Edington: Paddington Recreationals - 1254

But now time to get on with this season's Fantasy Hockey...
We’ve all heard of fantasy football leagues that occur year after year and are a source of fascination and frustration for people all over the country. This is the HWHC equivalent... HWHC Dream Team!

Do you know an under rated forward in the Ladies' 5s who smashes in the goals from all angles or perhaps a goalkeeper in the Men's Spaniards who also likes to play outfield and score hat-tricks?  Well now is your opportunity to get involved and put your knowledge to the test.

The league will work in exactly the same way as last year - for those new to it, it's dead simple.  You can select players from throughout the club (2 per team) who you think will score you the most points on the weekend. Points are awarded for appearances, goals, clean sheets, umpiring other teams etc with penalties in place for those that pick up cards with their back chat to umpires or have a penchant for the weekly Dick of the Day award - A full list of how to score points (and have points deducted!) can be found here.

Entry is £10 with all proceeds going towards the club, so get involved and test yourselves against the rest. Please note that it is free to register and enter a team on the website, but expect to be chased for your £10 at some point soon before the end of October!

Now that most squads are settled and have been inputted into the system, it's time to work out your best XI. Scoring will start from the Saturday 11th October.

It couldn't be easier to join, simply click here, where you will have to fill in a few very simple registration details with Fantastar - If you registered last year you should be able to just join the new season if you can remember your login details!

From there then you will be taken straight onto selecting your HWHC Dream Team.

You may need the league password 00217700HWHC558a66 to join the league.

Not on the system yet? We apologise for this but despite our best efforts and the sublime cooperation of the majority of captains, some have not yet emailed us their squad lists. So if you don’t want to miss out on the fun of proving to everyone that you’re a big points scorer, get your captains to send us over their squad list asap!

If you're looking for a starting point, here is last year's top scoring XI if money was no object, but if you look carefully you'll notice that L2 Defender Cress, is now an L1 Striker, and although Dom and Hammo both were top scoring strikers, they both also played Vets - more than one game a day does count!

GLK Adam Gapper: Mens Spaniards - 233

DEF John Clark: Mens 6th XI - 162
DEF Cressida Grant: Ladies 2nd XI - 153
DEF Jennifer Cima: Ladies 6th XI - 146
DEF Annebeth Wijtenberg: Ladies 1st XI - 136

MID Emma Stocking: Ladies 1st XI - 155
MID Jennifer Atkinson: Ladies 7th XI - 132
MID Carl Smith: Zak Hond - 130
MID Greg Howard: Zak Hond - 125

STK Dominic Richardson: Thirsts - 227
STK Ian Hammond: Mens 2nd XI - 143

If you're really into the research, here are the top ten's from last season.
Finally, good luck!
