Club Day – Saturday 19th August

Annual Club Day 2016 - London Hockey Club mix tournament
The legendary HWHC Club Day is fast approaching.
Club Day is every HWHC player's dream day! A mixture of playing hockey, watching some top hockey and drinking an inappropriate amount of alcohol.
For just £15 the day will consist of 7-a-side tournaments throughout the morning and early afternoon, lunch plus a drink included and at 3pm we'll cheer on the M1s who will be playing on the water pitch. During the day there will be a surprise fundraising challenge for an extra £5.  
Then onto the Warrington for the evening!
Your captains will be in touch soon to get your attendance. Please help them and our Social Jedis out by confirming your attendance asap!

AGM LOCATION CHANGE – 4 July 2017

Please note that the location for the AGM meeting has been changed to The Queens Arms Pub.

This is the chance for you as a member to see how your club is run and to let the board know how you want it to be run going forwards. Its also a great excuse to see your fellow club members between seasons and catch up over a couple of drinks.

FORMAL NOTICE OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF HWHC LTD / HAMPSTEAD & WESTMINSTER HOCKEY CLUB (‘THE CLUB’)

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting for the members of the Club will be held at The Queens Arms Pub, 1 Kilburn High Road, Maida Vale, London NW6 5SE at 7.30pm on Tuesday 4 July 2017. Please see map for directions.

Business to be conducted at the meeting:

  • Receiving reports from the Chairman and Club Captains
  • Annual subscriptions / match fees
  • Fundraising targets
  • Adoption of 2016/17 financial statements
  • Election/ re-election of Directors

All members of the club are entitled to attend the meeting. If you are unable to attend in person you can be represented by proxy. Download the proxy form here and once complete email it to jonathan_witt@icloud.com no later than midday on 4 July.

HWHC Committee Opportunities

We're recruiting so if any of the roles below appeal to you please click here to email Club Captains, Beth and Doddsy. If you have any other ideas on how you can help the club we'd love to hear from you!

Treasurer
A board level role where you will be responsible for setting budgets, managing P&L as well as preparing and submitting the club's annual accounts.

Social Events Coordinator
One member from each side of the club, ladies’ and men’s, who know how to party(!!!) and organise fun club events.  

Membership Coordinator
We would like a friendly person with a bright smile to welcome our new members throughout the season. You will be responsible for sending them the new member pack and ensuring they sign-up to pay annual fees. You will work closely with Commercial Officer, Shrimpie, who is responsible for our membership list and Club Captains, Beth and Doddsy, to integrate new members in their team.

Umpire Assistants
We need one person from each club, ladies' and men's, to assist Arnie, our Umpire Coordinator, in the weekly task of securing umpires for teams. Your main responsibility will be communicating to teams who their umpires are.

Fundraising Coordinators
As a registered charity we need one member from each side of the club, ladies' and men's, to work together and pioneer our fundraising efforts. Every year we are set a target which is made up of fundraising events, individual donations, and corporate donations. Your role is to ensure the club has several sociable fundraising events in the diary, some organised by you and others by individuals or teams. The key to reaching our target is Match Funding e.g corporations match a certain amount (determined by them) which is raised by an employee of their company who has completed a sponsored run for HWHC. Check out the HWHC Just Giving page here. You will be working closely with our Commercial Officer, Shrimpie who is responsible for sourcing corporate donations.

Kit Coordinator
Responsible for maintaining the relationship with our kit suppliers, answering any queries and helping to ensure good quality kit with timely delivery.

There are several roles on available on the committee for the 2016 / 2017 season and we'd love to hear from you if you can contribute to the running of the club or have any ideas on how you can support it, no contribution is too small.

Men's Vice Club Captain

  • Manage selection for lower men's teams
  • Assist Men’s Club Captain
  • Act as welfare officer for lower men’s teams

Sponsorship Officer

  • Nurture relationships with existing sponsors
  • Approach potential new sponsors
  • Support the M1s and L1s with finding individual or team sponsorship
  • Amend and update the sponsorship presentation for use on pitches

Fixtures Secretary

  • Act as a main point of contact for other clubs to amend fixtures
  • Cross reference pitch bookings and ensure they match up with pitch slots booked each week
  • Confirm the number of teas required from PSC every week by liaising with team captains

Umpire Coordinator

  • Coordinate umpires for the club
  • Encourage members of the club to attend umpiring courses by seeking out courses, raising awareness of when they are on and administering
  • Schedule and ensure opportunities for trainee umpires to complete the practical side of their umpiring course using HWHC teams

Matched Fundraising Officer

  • Mobilise club members who receive matched fundraising to maximise  our fundraising goals
  • Work with the existing list to identify and update all club members eligible for the scheme
  • Identify new ways to use matched fundraising to raise money for our club
  • Organise two fundraising events e.g. Beat Mo Farah / HWHC Sports Day ensuring members who receive matched fund raising are present

Fundraising Officer

  • Responsible for generating revenue through fundraising and new initiatives
  • Works closely with the Matched Fundraising Officer and Sponsorship Officer

Membership Secretary

  • Support Commercial Officer in managing membership using master list
  • Update list with new players, monitoring membership rates
  • Answer any membership queries
  • Process direct debit forms and ensure all members are paying
  • Maintain master database of club members

Committee Secretary

  • Format agendas, attend committee meetings and take minutes
  • Circulate minutes and agendas prior to meeting

Ella Ellis Selected for U18 South JRPC

 

A massive WELL DONE to Ella Ellis from the L5's (having risen through the junior ranks). Ella has been selected for England South JRPC and will train with them over the summer. Ella is the winner of the inaugural Oli Thomas Rising Star Award, and her inclusion in the squad really shows she deserves it!

HWHC Juniors Representing Middlesex

Congratulations to 11 Hampstead & Westminster players who have been selected for the Middlesex Junior Academy Centre (JAC). This is the second step on the England Hockey Development Pathway and we wish them the best of luck for the next step of their Middlesex hockey journey.
